Preggy

Preggy

Zwaar. Schrijven is leuk! Ik schrijf me in bij schrijfcursus Amsterdam waar ze me de fijne kneepjes van het schrijversvak leren. Ik vind het geweldig. En na zo’n twee jaar is ie af….. En eigenlijk was dat nóg een bevalling. Nu echt volgens het boekje. Letterlijk. “PREGGY” is geboren. En ik ben mega, megatrots.

Pregnancy Blues

Pregnancy Blues

It should be a time of joyous anticipation–the happiest time in a woman's life. But for many women, the joys of pregnancy are clouded by feelings of fear, sadness, and confusion. And unlike postpartum depression, which is widely portrayed in the media and embraced by the medical community, depression during pregnancy has been rarely discussed and often misunderstood–until now. In this groundbreaking book–the first to focus exclusively on depression in pregnancy–Dr. Shaila Kulkarni Misri, a leading reproductive psychiatrist, draws on her twenty-five years of clinical practice and research to offer hope, help, and healing–as well as a provocative, myth-shattering examination of a subject that has too long been shrouded in darkness. The numbers are surprising: up to 70 percent of pregnant women experience some degree of depressive symptoms, and of those, 12 percent meet the diagnostic criteria for major depression. Although it is at least as common as postpartum depression, which occurs after a child's birth, pregnancy-related depression is often cloaked in silence, shame, and denial. Pregnancy Blues lifts the veil on this heartbreaking–and very treatable– illness, examining the key social and biological factors that can come together during pregnancy to create a climate in which depression and anxiety thrive, as well as offering the many effective treatments that are available. Discover: • How to recognize the signs and symptoms of depression–and know when to seek help • The role of female hormones: why women are more vulnerable to depression than men • How depression can "hide" behind physical complaints, such as back, stomach, or even chest pain • The unspoken connection between infertility and depression • The antidepressant controversy: the facts on specific drugs, their safety–and when medication is the right choice • Breastfeeding and medication–the risks and benefits Plus helpful self-tests and resources, information on alternative treatment options–from therapy to acupuncture–and much more. A work of daring and compassion, Pregnancy Blues challenges the underlying traditions and beliefs surrounding pregnancy and motherhood–and explores how those misconceptions have led to the drastic underdiagnosis and undertreatment of depression during pregnancy. A must-read for women and those who love them, Pregnancy Blues is at once an extraordinary roadmap to healing and an eye-opening report on a medical issue that no woman can afford to miss. From the Hardcover edition.

Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond

Pregnancy and child birth bring about significant physical changes and challenges. Most parents, however, also have spiritual and philosophical questions which most pregnancy books don't address. Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond covers both the practical and spiritual aspects of having a child. Erika Gradenwitz-Koehler explains how diet, state of mind and the desire for a child can all affect chances of conception. She gives advice for a healthy pregnancy in body, soul and spirit and helps prepare parents for the physical and emotional experience of birthing. Chapters on infant care include advice for nurturing the spirit, as well as discussing feeding and emotional attachment. This is a comprehensive but alternative guide to all aspects of conception, pregnancy, birth and infant care.

Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn (New edition)

Parents love this book because it puts them in control; experts love it because it's based on the latest medical research and recommendations from leading health organizations. Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn provides the information and guidance you need to make informed decisions about having a safe and satisfying pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period--decisions that reflect your preferences, priorities, and values. Unlike pregnancy guides that can overwhelm and alarm by telling you up front all the things that can possibly go wrong, this book first describes normal, healthy processes, their typical variations, and the usual care practices for monitoring them. Only then does it cover possible complications and the care practices and procedures for resolving them. Throughout, the presentation is crystal-clear, the tone is reassuring, and the voice is empowering. And the language is inclusive, reflecting today's various family configurations such as single-parent families, blended families formed by second marriages, families with gay and lesbian parents, and families formed by open adoption or surrogacy. From sensible nutrition advice to realistic birth plans, from birth doulas when desired to cesareans when needed, from reducing stress during pregnancy to caring for yourself as well as your baby after birth, this pregnancy guide speaks to today's parents-to-be like no other.

Prenataal Onderzoek

Throughout pregnancy, hormones soften the ligaments and joints of the pelvis in preparation for labor, a time when the four bones of the pelvis--the two ilia (hip bones), the coccyx (tailbone), and the sacrum--do their intimate dance of release, rotation, and counter-rotation around the soon-to-be newborn. In this hands-on guide based on 15 years of research and workshops in maternity wards, movement teachers and health professionals Blandine Calais-Germain and Núria Vives Parés detail the anatomical intricacies of the female pelvis and its capabilities for expansion and return to its original form. Providing fully illustrated exercises to help the expectant mother prepare for this pelvic transformation and gain confidence in her body's innate ability to birth her child, they also present a variety of movements and positions for use during the different stages of labor to ease discomfort, enhance the productivity of contractions, aid the internal expansion of the pelvis, and prevent and treat issues that may arise such as "failure to progress." Ideal for the expectant mother and her birthing partner, this book will be a welcome addition to the library of every midwife, obstetrician, doula, and movement professional who teaches pregnant women.

Puzzelpreut

Puzzelpreut

Of in hun broek doen plassen.

Reclaiming Childbirth as a Rite of Passage: Weaving Ancient Wisdom With Modern Knowledge

Reclaiming Childbirth as a Rite of Passage: Weaving Ancient Wisdom With Modern Knowledge

It's time for a childbirth revolution. The modern approach to maternity care fails women, families and care providers with outdated practices that centre the needs of institutions rather than individuals. In this book, Rachel Reed weaves history, science and research with the experiences of women and care providers to create a holistic, evidence-based framework for understanding birth. Reclaiming childbirth as a rite of passage requires us to recognise that mothers own the power and expertise when it comes to birthing their babies. Whether you are a parent, care provider or educator, this book will transform how you think and feel about childbirth.
